Theme nights are a must on every cruise and Royal Caribbean has them too!

Every different night offers the chance to dive into different eras and moods. From the retro vibes of the ’70s and ’80s party to the elegance of a formal night, there’s something for everyone.

In this article, I’ve listed the most popular theme nights on Royal Caribbean cruises. You will find a description of what the night is about and what men and women can wear to impress.

Further down in the article, you will also find the schedule of all the themed nights that are currently taking place on each ship of the fleet.

’70s or ’80s Night

The ’70s/’80s Night it’s all about stepping back in time and enjoying the iconic music, fashion, and dance moves of those years.

Royal Caribbean decks transform into a nostalgic dance floor with classic hits that’ll have you grooving all night long.

What to Wear? Well for men just remember John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever! Bell-bottoms, silky shirts, and platform shoes. If you prefer, you can also opt for more of a rock style with band tees, leather jackets, and tight jeans for the ’80s.

Women will be perfect in maxi dresses, jumpsuits, and basically anything with a psychedelic print. For the ’80s you can wear neon leggings, oversized tops, and headbands.

White Night

The White Night is, in my opinion, the one where it’s easiest to dress up. There’s just one rule: everything should be white!

Just think about a totally white outfit. Men can wear white trousers or chinos paired with a white shirt or polo.

Women can simply wear a white dress, whether flowy maxis, elegant cocktail dresses, or chic jumpsuits. I personally think that accessories can also be in silver for a touch of glamour.

Caribbean or Tropical Night

It wouldn’t be Royal Caribbean without a Caribbean-themed night! On some ships, it’s also called Tropical Night, but the idea behind it it’s the same.

It will be a vibrant celebration of island culture, with Calypso music, tropical drinks, and an atmosphere that’s as warm as the Caribbean sun.

If you want to dress accordingly, for men you can think about lightweight, colorful shirts with tropical prints, paired with shorts or linen trousers.

For women just opt for tropical-print dresses or skirts. Bight colors and floral patterns are perfect.

Neon Night

Neon Night it’s one of my favorites! It’s all about creating a glowing, energetic evening where bright colors and lights take center stage, turning the night into a vibrant dance party.

It’s a bit more difficult to find the right clothes for this night but you might have something in your closet.

For both men and women, think about anything neon or that glows under black light. Neon shirts, glow sticks, bracelets, and even neon paint.

Latin Night

Latin Night is perfect for all passengers who love the rhythms of salsa, bachata, and merengue.

What to Wear? For men lightweight shirts and trousers that perfect for dancing. Think about vibrant colors like red or orange.

Women can opt for flowy dresses or skirts that are easy to move in, always with vibrant colors or patterns.

Formal Night

Formal Night is the most famous of all the theme nights, you can basically find this one on every single cruise ship. On some ships, it is also called the “Dress to Impress” night.

It will be all about glamour, where guests have the chance to dress up and capture the essence of elegance at sea.

Men should wear a suit and tie or a tuxedo, for those who want to go all out. Dark, elegant colors work best.

Women can wear cocktail dresses, evening gowns, or sophisticated jumpsuits. Don’t forget accessories like clutches, jewelry, and elegant heels.

How to find out theme nights on Royal Caribbean?

Information about theme nights can be found in the Cruise Compass, which is placed in your stateroom each evening for the following day.

If you want to plan in advance, you can find them on the Royal Caribbean app a few weeks before you sail. Just check under the daily planner section!

Do you have to follow theme nights?

No, it is not mandatory to follow the theme night dress code.

However, remember to wear appropriate clothing for each area of the ship. For example, avoid going to restaurants in tank tops or swimsuits.
You may be asked to change into something more appropriate.
