Hello everyone! I’m back with a new article on room services on cruise ships!
In this article, we will focus on Norwegian Cruise Line. We’ll look at the new and updated menu, all the dishes you can order, and of course the prices.
The last time I was on an NCL ship I really liked the room service, so I recommend you try it!
Breakfast room service menu on NCL
For breakfast, like basically all cruise ships of the larger cruise lines, NCL uses an order card system.
You will find the card in the cabin, you must fill it out and hang it outside the door the night before the order.
You must enter your name, cabin number, number of guests, preferred time of delivery (between 6:30 am to 10:00 am), and the quantity next to each item you want to order.
Below, you can see a picture of the breakfast menu you usually find in the cabin.
As you can see there are 8 different sections: fruit, yogurt, cold cereal, freshly baked pastries, preserves and condiments, beverages, juices, and a special selection of hot dishes (usually omelets and french toast).
Breakfast Specials
For a complete breakfast, there is another menu called “Breakfast Specials” which includes several hot dishes.
You can order:
- American breakfast with scrambled, poached, sunny side up, or oven-easy eggs. Choice of English muffing, beagle, white or whole wheat toast, and choice of bacon, sausage, ham, or turkey sausage.
- Ham and cheddar omelet
- Spinach and tomato omelet
- Avocado toast
- French toast
- Breakfast smoothies
NCL All day room service menu
The all-day room service menu on NCL is available between 10:00 am to 6:30 am, so basically all day except the time when the breakfast menu is in use.
The “all-day” dishes include:
- Hearty Chicken Noodle Soup
- Caesar Salad
- Greek Salad
- Cobb Salad
- Fruit Plate
- Cheese Plate
There’s then a small section for kids that includes:
- Chicken Fingers
- Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich
- Grilled Cheese Sandwich
- Macaroni & Cheese
Sandwiches and pizza
There’s also a specific section of the menu for sandwiches and pizza. You will find 7 different types of sandwiches and 4 different types of pizza.
I like the variety of sandwiches, but I would have expected a few more pizza choices. You know, I am Italian and pizza is the basis of my diet 😉
- BLT
- Turkey Sub
- Tuna Salad
- Italian Hero
- Cheeseburger
- Veggie Burger
- All-Beef Hot Dog
- Three Cheese Pizza
- Vegetarian
- Pepperoni
- Supreme
Entrees and desserts
The last page of the menu is dedicated to entrees and desserts.
There are 5 choices of entrees: 1 of pasta, 2 of meat, and 2 of fish. Again, it’s ok but I’m sure NCL can do a little better.
I’ve already shown you the wide selection in the Princess Cruises room service menu, so I hope any cruise lines reach that level of variety.
- Spaghetti Bolognese
- Half Roasted Chicken
- Skirt Steak
- Grilled Salmon
- Fish & Chips
Finally, there are the desserts, 3 choices between:
- New York Cheesecake
- Strawberry Pound Cake
- Seven-Layer Chocolate Cake
Is room service free on NCL?
No, room service on Norwegian Cruise Line ships is not free. There’s a 4.95$ delivery fee for breakfast orders and a 9.95$ fee for all-day orders.
Moreover, a 20% gratuity is added to non-complimentary beverages and special occasion items.
My personal review
I must say that I liked Norwegian Cruise Line’s room service. I ordered breakfast once: it arrived on time, hot, and with all the dishes I requested.
Then I ordered lunch, again the food was good although delivered a bit late and arrived a bit cold.
The selection is acceptable; I would say it’s a medium-sized menu. It’s neither too small nor too large.
Could more be done? Certainly, but I think NCL’s room service is already of a good standard.
includes non-surge power strip, lanyards, luggage tags, magnetic hooks and more!
